Introduction & Values:
The 2024-5 season will start on Sunday 1st September 2024 for Junior Girls (Under 12 to Under 14).
The Girls Juniors had a fantastic 2023-4 season. The group is growing fast and thriving. We are always looking for new recruits and would welcome other Under 12 - Under 14 (Year 7-9) girls to join us. We have a lot to look up to with strong, vibrant and successful Womens teams at the Senior level at Barnes RFC. Plus our guest coach, Emma Urem, Captain of Womens GB 7s team is a true inspiration to the group.
We enthusiastically subscribe to the RFU youth rugby values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS) and look to provide an inclusive and fun environment along with excellent coaching and skills development, plus enjoyment of competition as the players approach their teenage years.
We supplement parent coaches with professional coaching from Jack Heald Coaching and Emma Uren, GB Sevens Olympian!
We foster a strong “One Club” approach with support between the age groups and close ties with the senior sections of the Club, all helped by enjoyment of our welcoming Clubhouse – and no doubt the regular free hot dogs and lunches in the clubhouse after training!
Where and When:
Our Junior Girls section train on Sunday mornings, 9:00am to 10:30 on the pitches at:
Barn Elms Sports Centre
Queen Elizabeth Walk,
Barnes SW13 0DG
Pitchers are at the far end of Queen Elizabeth Walk, by the Thames.
The site has car parking and a NO DOGS policy.

We are always keen to welcome new players and families to the Club at all ages and experience levels, including beginners. For player safety and security reasons, all new players must be registered before they participate.
Membership subscriptions for the 2024/2025 season, covering the full season September to April are £130 for Girls Juniors. There are discounts for multiple children in one family, calculated on the registration form.
Subscriptions cover attendance at training as well as festivals or cup matches throughout the season, coaching, equipment, membership of the Return2Play concussion injury assistance support programme, family social membership of Barnes RFC and also the hot dogs and lunches provided after some training sessions.

A free three session trial is available for players new to Barnes rugby, so they can see if they like it before joining up; we are confident they will! To register for a free Trial for players new to Barnes rugby, make sure to tick the Trial box when entering Player Info on the form.
We also run an exceptional financial circumstances scheme to support players who would like to participate but would not otherwise be able to do so for financial reasons. We sponsor a number of players each year to train, play and even tour with Barnes RFC, so they can experience rugby and benefit from the life-long skills and discipline that it teaches. For consideration under this scheme, please contact the relevant section head or the membership officer as shown below, and your application will be treated in strict confidence.
Barnes Kit Shop: Our kit shop is open Saturdays mornings 9:30am to 11am at the Minis training, by the BEST pavilion and café, for all Barnes youth rugby ages, with shirts, hoodies, weatherproof tops, shorts, socks and hats.
Safeguarding:
Safeguarding responsibilities are taken very seriously: all coaches have DBS certificates, many coaches have additional safeguarding training and each age group has first aiders and first aid kits. Contact details for our Safeguarding Officer are posted at the site and available below.
