In 1978, sat in the away changing rooms of the BBC in Motspur Park were five battle-hardened Barnes 2nd team players. After the game they complained of their ailments. They wanted to carry on playing rugby, but the 2nd team was too much. Bob Blair, Dougal Graham, Dave Doonan, Neil Copp & Ian Stoker started what is now called the Barnes Originals.

Our team plays between 8 - 12 games a year against local oppositions such as Richmond, Harlequins & Esher. Whilst our endeavours on the field are central to why we are a team, our liaisons off the field are a large part of why we are all involved. These involved mini-tours such as to Guernsey, Vets lunches and other socials. If you are looking for a home, the Originals welcome you.
